FENDER 1968 REISSUE STRATOCASTER
Here is a great looking and hard to find Made In Japan 68 Reissue Stratocaster. This one features a maple neck with a maple capped fretboard. [ not one piece maple ]
Maple fretboards were actually a special order in the late 60s when Fender was only offering rosewood fingerboards as stock. Fender would simply use the same neck but glue a "maple cap" fingerboard instead of the "rosewood cap." The maple cap gives this guitar a very unique tone. Worth mention is that this is the same style neck that was custom ordered and used by Hendrix and David Gilmour.
This example has some really choice upgrades. It has been professionally outfitted with Dimarzio pickups. A Virtual 54 in the neck, AREA 58 in the middle, and Virtual Solo in bridge position as well as 500 K pots wired to give the bridge and neck pickup a tone control but not the middle pickup. This combination offers a lot of highly usable and excellent sounding tone options. To increase sustain it has also had the trem block upgraded to a Callaham which in my opinion are the best blocks made today. It is truly a great guitar in every respect. Super Clean condition as well. Includes a free gig bag.
It is very hard to find this model in the USA because it is only made for the Japan market. Shipping cost and duty from Japan is usually several hundred dollars. You won't need to bother with that if you buy this one. With the upgrades, I think this guitar is a really fair deal at $899.99
